Brits hate Barbie

Wow...just, wow. In a way, it's satisfying because it seems like British girls view a rejection of Barbie as a rite of passage; an understanding that Barbie is an idealized childhood dream and impossible to achieve in an adult reality. This acceptance of the Myth of Barbie can only be a good thing, preparing little Susan for a long life of never being quite as sexy as her friend Ginger, but also not being anywhere near as vapid or slutty.
However, there is something decidedly disturbing about Brit Tweens playing Snuff Film Barbie and with apparent relish.
It's one thing to accept that Barbie is unrealistic, it's something else to want to punish her for it. One is maturity, the other is psychosis.
I guess the bright side here is that this can only help the new off-Broadway production of "Extremities" starring Barbie and G.I. Joe.
